PTFE coatings (polytetrafluoroethylene) (better known as Teflon® & Xylan®)
These products have the highest operating temperature of any Fluoropolymer (290°C/550°F), excellent non-stick, an extremely low coefficient of friction, good abrasion resistance and chemical resistance. PTFE coatings can be applied as single coat, two coat or three coat premium systems.
PEEK coatings (polyetheretherketone)
AF800 Series PEEK Powder is applied to a substrate to create a protective coating. Typically used to improve chemical, corrosion, abrasion and wear resistance of metal substrates. Download Data Sheet
FEP coatings (fluorinated ethylene propylene copolymer)
These high performance non-stick coatings melt and flow during baking and provide non-porous films. They provide excellent chemical resistance in addition to low friction. Maximum use temperature is 205°C/400°F. FEP is available in both water-based and powder forms.
PFA coatings (perfluoroalkoxy)
These products also melt and flow during baking to provide non-porous films and increased permeation resistance. PFA offers additional benefits of higher continuous use temperature 260°C, film thicknesses up to 1,000 micrometers and greater toughness than PTFE and FEP. PFA has good non-stick properties and is a preferred coating for the food and bakery industries. PFA is an excellent choice for where chemical resistance is required. PFA is available in both water-based and powder forms.
ETFE coatings (copolymer of ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene) (better known as Tefzel®)
ETFE has excellent chemical resistance and can operate at 150°C/300°F. The resin is the toughest of the Fluoropolymers and can be applied at film builds up to 1,000 micrometers.
ECTFE coatings (ethylene-chorotrifluoroethylene) (better known as Halar®)
ECTFE based coatings offer excellent resistance, impact strength and abrasion resistance. ECTFE is resistance to most bases, acids and organic solvents. Widely used in both the Chemical Processing and Pharmaceutical industries. Anti-static and filled versions are available depending on the application requirements.
PVDF coatings (polyvinylidene fluoride) (better known as Kynar®)
PVDF based coatings offer good chemical resistance and is used on chemical processing equipment. PVDF coatings are unaffected by most chemicals and solvents and has excellent wear and abrasion resistance. PVDF also has a high dielectric strength and offers good weathering resistance and the ability to self extinguish.
Many people around the world are familiar with this non-stick substance owing to its widespread use in frying pans and baking trays but its remarkable properties also make it ideal for a wide range of specialised industrial applications. Having invested a considerable amount in the latest equipment on the market we are in a position to supply this and other materials, such as PFA, FEP and PVDF, to firms that require tooling and other equipment to be coated with a material that offers corrosion protection as well as being resistant to high temperatures. The low coefficients of friction that surfaces coated with Teflon can achieve are one of the reasons that we have regularly supplied it to organisations in the Aeronautical industry for applications such as bearings and fan blades. ETFE coatings can be a better choice when toughness is the main requirement although companies that require industrial coatings capable of withstanding extremely high temperatures and to which even molten plastic will not stick, may find that PTFE is the best option. We are capable of producing a range of precision-machined items such as bearings and seals that utilise this material and are often used in pipeline and shipbuilding projects.
